Representation of artists from Europe’s East in England
Are you a professional artist from Europe’s East (although I am unlikely to define what is “Eastern Europe”, hereby I am refering to Central, Eastern, Northeastern and Southeastern European areas and people who have heritage of socialist regimes)?
Have you been living and working in England for a minimum of 5 years?
Would you like to talk to us about your experience as an artist in the England, your experience of migration, and the influence your heritage has on your artistic practice and career in England?
We are looking for participants to take part in an informal, one-to-one interview about their artistic practice, and their career in England as an artist from Europe’s East (Central, Eastern, and Southeastern Europe).
The interviews will inform our research on the impact that the ‘Eastern European’ heritage has on developing and sustaining an artistic career in UK, and to which extent is ‘Eastern Europeannes’ represented and understood in the Western European artistic contexts. We want to find out how individual artists negotiate their identities and the factors that contribute to/detract from the development of their artistic practice and career. The interview will last up to 90 minutes and can take place at a time and location of your choosing, or online.
Your time will be financially compensated.
We are looking to engage with a variety of artists in terms of:
Artistic Practice
Age
Career level
Geographical area in England
Which area of Europe’s East you identify with most
